Baltimore, Maryland – Marylanders can expect hazy skies and rising temperatures through Thursday as smoke from Canadian wildfires blankets the region and a strong high-pressure system locks in dry, summerlike heat.

According to the National Weather Service in Baltimore/Washington, high temperatures will climb into the low 90s on Wednesday and Thursday, with haze visible across much of central Maryland, northern Virginia, and the D.C. metro due to drifting wildfire smoke. Conditions are expected to remain dry until at least Thursday morning.

Cities including Baltimore, Frederick, and Rockville will see highs between 86°F and 92°F, while Washington, D.C., could peak at 93°F on Wednesday. The hazy conditions may impact air quality, particularly for those with respiratory issues. Residents are advised to limit strenuous outdoor activity, especially during the afternoon when temperatures and pollutant levels are highest.

While no rain is expected through midweek, skies may turn partly cloudy by Thursday afternoon. Drivers should use caution as visibility could be reduced in areas with denser smoke haze.

Conditions are likely to improve by Friday, but further air quality alerts remain possible depending on wildfire activity to the north.
