Chicago, IL – On Monday, the NASCAR Chicago Street Race team, in partnership with The NASCAR Foundation, delivered “Speedy Bear” teddy bears to five children’s hospitals across the city in celebration of National Teddy Bear Day. Shriners Children’s Chicago received a special visit, where Chicago Street Race President Julie Giese donated $10,000 to the far West Side hospital.
According to NASCAR, hospitals that participated in the initiative included Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital, La Rabida Children’s Hospital, Rush University Children’s Hospital, and University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children’s. Each facility received NASCAR-themed teddy bears designed to bring joy to young patients.
In addition to the toy donations, the NASCAR Chicago team brought a Chicago Street Race pace car display to Shriners Children’s Chicago. Families, patients, and staff had the opportunity to get a close-up look at the vehicle and the race trophy.
The NASCAR Foundation’s Speedy Bear Brigade has donated over 14,000 teddy bears to children in hospitals across North America.
