Shreveport, LA – The National Weather Service in Shreveport reports partly sunny skies today with temperatures reaching the low to mid-90s. The heat index is expected to soar into the lower 100s, driven by southwest winds ranging from 5-15 mph, which will enhance humidity levels coming from the Gulf.

According to the National Weather Service, scattered showers and thunderstorms may develop throughout the day, particularly along the I-20 corridor. These weather conditions are influenced by a sea breeze interacting with a weak upper-level low in the southwestern flow.

High temperatures across the region will vary, with Shreveport expected to hit 94 degrees. Other areas, such as Texarkana, will reach up to 96 degrees, while Monroe will experience temperatures around 95 degrees. Humidity levels will be high, contributing to the oppressive heat index.

The forecast predicts a 20-50% chance of precipitation today, with the highest likelihood in regions like Lufkin and Hemphill, where rain chances are around 50%. The scattered nature of these showers means not everyone will see rain, but those who do may experience brief, heavy downpours and occasional lightning.

Looking ahead, Shreveport will see temperatures remaining in the low to mid-90s for the next several days. Sunday will be partly cloudy with a high of 91 degrees, while Monday through Wednesday will bring clear skies and temperatures climbing to 96-97 degrees. Rain chances increase slightly by mid-week, with a 50% chance of showers on Thursday and 40% on Friday, as temperatures moderate to the upper 80s and lower 90s.
