Charleston, WV – A cold front will bring storms to the region today, with isolated severe storms possible west of the Ohio River this afternoon and evening. The National Weather Service has warned of the potential for thunderstorms to become severe later in the day.

According to the National Weather Service, storms will develop as the cold front moves through, with the greatest severe weather risk focused to the west of the Ohio River. These storms are expected to diminish after sunset, but residents are urged to stay alert throughout the evening.

Tonight, showers and thunderstorms will continue, though the threat of severe weather should decrease after the cold front passes. By Saturday morning, precipitation will taper off as high pressure begins to build, bringing cooler and drier weather to the area.

Forecasters expect these drier conditions to persist through much of next week. Residents should prepare for warmer temperatures starting Sunday as high pressure dominates the region’s weather.
