Little Rock, AR – A widespread tornado watch has been issued for parts of Arkansas, Missouri, and Illinois as severe storms sweep through the region Friday night. The National Weather Service (NWS) warns that conditions are favorable for tornado formation, with the watch set to remain in effect until late Friday and early Saturday morning.

According to the NWS, Tornado Watch 32 will be in place until 11 p.m. CDT, covering 25 counties in Arkansas, including Pulaski, Faulkner, and White counties. The same watch also extends to portions of Missouri and Illinois, affecting areas such as St. Louis, Quincy, and Jefferson City. Meanwhile, Tornado Watch 36 is in effect until 3 a.m. CDT Saturday for parts of western Kentucky, southern Illinois, and portions of Tennessee and Mississippi.

Residents in the affected regions are urged to stay alert, as severe thunderstorms with the potential for tornadoes, damaging winds, and large hail are expected. Emergency officials advise people to monitor local weather updates, ensure they have a way to receive warnings, and be prepared to take shelter if necessary.

The storm system is moving quickly, with strong winds and heavy rainfall increasing the risk of flash flooding in some areas. Motorists should exercise caution, as road conditions may rapidly deteriorate due to heavy rain and wind gusts.

This developing weather event will continue to be monitored. Stay tuned for updates from the National Weather Service and local emergency management agencies.
