Schaumburg, IL — Water system repairs starting Tuesday could affect supply routes in Schaumburg, but village officials say residents shouldn’t experience service interruptions.

According to the Village of Schaumburg, the Northwest Suburban Municipal Joint Action Water Agency (NSMJAWA) discovered a leak in a 90-inch water main near I-90 and Elmhurst. The pipe, which delivers water to several member communities, will be shut down beginning April 1 for up to five days to complete repairs.

Thanks to an interconnection with the DuPage Water Commission, Schaumburg has access to a backup water supply. Officials say this will help maintain continuous water service and no community-wide boil order is anticipated. Residents and businesses are still encouraged to reduce extended water use during the repair period.

The village is one of seven communities served by NSMJAWA, which operates more than 55 miles of water pipeline. While Schaumburg will receive prioritized water access, it may also support nearby communities through its interconnected systems.

Officials note that work will proceed swiftly and safely, and updates will be provided as necessary. For more information, residents can visit the village website or dial 311.
