Sarasota County, FL – A 24-year-old Venice man has been arrested in connection with a shooting outside a local pub that left another man with a graze wound, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Venice Police Department, investigators arrested Colby Moran, 24, in connection with a shooting that occurred in the 800 block of U.S. 41 North Bypass in Venice.
Authorities said the incident began around 10:40 p.m. Sunday night when Moran and another man became involved in a verbal argument outside the Outlook Pub. Investigators allege the confrontation escalated after both men armed themselves with firearms.
According to detectives, Moran allegedly fired several shots from his vehicle as he was leaving the parking lot, striking the other man with a graze wound to the lower leg.
A Venice police officer conducted a traffic stop on Moran’s vehicle several blocks from the scene and detained him until Sarasota County Sheriff’s deputies arrived.
Moran has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and firing a weapon from a vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office.
Authorities have not released additional information about the victim’s condition beyond describing the injury as a graze wound.
The investigation remains ongoing.
As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
