Rockford, IL – Rockford firefighters carried out a challenging overnight technical rescue after a woman fell into a steep, wooded ditch behind a concrete retaining wall, requiring specialized equipment to safely bring her to safety.

According to the Rockford Fire Department, crews and the department’s Technical Rescue Team responded alongside law enforcement after receiving reports of a woman who had fallen into the difficult terrain.

Firefighters quickly deployed specialized rope rescue systems and utilized an aerial ladder to access the victim and safely raise her from the wooded ditch. The operation required rescuers to work from above the concrete wall while carefully securing and lifting the woman to street level.
