JANESVILLE, Wis. – Residents in Rock County will have an opportunity to safely dispose of unused and expired medications during a drug take-back event in Janesville this Saturday.
According to the Rock County Sheriff’s Office, the event will take place Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Dr. Daniel Hale Williams Resource Center, located at 1717 Center Avenue.
Officials say the event is part of a broader effort to reduce access to unused prescription drugs, which can be a source of misuse if left in homes. Community members are encouraged to bring prescription medications, expired drugs, over-the-counter medications, and even pet medications for proper disposal.
In addition to medication drop-off, authorities said sharps disposal will be available on-site. Residents can also receive free sharps containers, lock boxes, and take-home medication disposal systems while supplies last.
The initiative aligns with nationwide drug take-back efforts aimed at improving public safety and preventing improper disposal practices that could harm the environment or lead to accidental exposure.
Organizers encourage participants to remove personal information from prescription labels before arriving and to follow any on-site instructions for safe drop-off.
The Janesville event serves residents across Rock County and nearby communities, offering a convenient and responsible way to clear out unused medications.
