Will County, IL – The Will County Sheriff’s Office responded to multiple calls about threats targeting area schools. These threats, circulated on social media, prompted the sheriff’s department to boost its presence at schools in the Homer 33C School District.

According to the Will County Sheriff’s Office, the posts are recycled threats that have impacted other schools recently. No credible evidence has been found to suggest any direct threats to schools in the district. Despite this, deputies will remain on-site to provide extra security on Wednesday.

The department urges the public not to share any threatening posts. “We ask that you take a screenshot of the threatening post and report it to the police,” said the department. Officials continue to monitor the situation closely and emphasize safety as their top priority.

The sheriff’s office assures the community that necessary precautions will be taken if a credible threat emerges. Their goal is to ensure a safe and secure learning environment for students in the district.
