Joliet, IL – A 14-year-old female was arrested Saturday after allegedly making threats involving Joliet area schools on social media. Authorities took her into custody and released her to a parent after processing her for felony disorderly conduct.
According to Joliet Police, the investigation began after school threats were shared online on Friday evening. Detectives identified the juvenile at her home and found no weapons or credible threat evidence. She admitted her involvement after further questioning on Saturday afternoon.
Police arrested a 12-year-old female for a separate unfounded threat against Dirksen Junior High School. Both juveniles have been released to their parents. Joliet Police emphasized the importance of public vigilance and the serious consequences of making false threats.
Authorities continue to investigate similar copycat posts circulating online. So far, none have been deemed credible. Public safety remains a top priority for the department.
