Paducah, KY – Western Kentucky residents are preparing for heavy rainfall as the remnants of Hurricane Francine push northward. Showers and thunderstorms are expected Thursday and Friday, with 1 to 3 inches of rain forecasted. Higher amounts are predicted in western Kentucky.

According to the National Weather Service, the rain may cause localized flooding in low-lying areas. Roads with poor drainage are at higher risk. The heaviest rainfall will likely occur Thursday night into Friday afternoon.

Rain totals, however, have slightly decreased. The system, originally stronger, is weakening as it moves inland. Despite this, the area remains under a flood watch, and residents are urged to stay alert.
