Rock Island, IL – Isolated thunderstorms are expected to develop south of I-80 this morning, with a 60% to 80% chance of showers in the Rock Island area, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) Quad Cities office. The showers are likely to be more concentrated south of the interstate, but spotty lighter rain may extend into other areas, including Davenport and surrounding cities.

According to the NWS, temperatures will remain cooler than usual, with highs only reaching the mid-70s. This pattern of cooler temperatures is expected to persist throughout the week, with temperatures gradually trending back to normal. The forecast also calls for increasing rain chances by mid-week, particularly on Wednesday and Thursday when the potential for storms, including heavy rain, rises to 70%.

Residents should be prepared for potential travel disruptions south of I-80, especially during peak storm activity. The NWS advises monitoring weather updates and planning accordingly, as isolated storms could bring localized flooding and hazardous driving conditions. Rain chances will decrease by Friday, leading into a drier and warmer weekend across the Quad Cities region.
