San Juan, Puerto Rico – In a span of just 24 hours, Puerto Rico experienced nearly a dozen earthquakes, leaving residents on edge. The seismic activity began early Monday and continued throughout the day, with the strongest tremor reaching a magnitude of 3.4. Most quakes were centered near La Parguera and Tallaboa, two regions known for their seismic activity.
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the quakes ranged in magnitude from 2.5 to 3.4, with depths varying between 7.4 km and 15.7 km. Despite the frequent shaking, there have been no immediate reports of significant damage or injuries.
Local authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and prepared for potential aftershocks. Experts have pointed out that Puerto Rico’s location on the boundary of the North American and Caribbean tectonic plates makes it susceptible to such frequent seismic events.
