Pueblo, Colorado – Snow showers and cooler temperatures are expected across southern Colorado Friday before warmer weather returns this weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, snow will increase across the mountains and higher terrain Friday, while rain and snow showers spread eastward across the southeast plains.
Higher elevation communities such as Leadville, Crestone, and areas along the Continental Divide may see more widespread snowfall, while lower elevations could experience a mix of rain and snow during the day.
Across the Interstate 25 corridor, including Colorado Springs, Pueblo, and Walsenburg, temperatures will remain cooler Friday with scattered rain or snow showers possible.
Forecasters say daytime highs will vary widely across the region. Mountain communities may stay in the 20s and 30s, while cities along the plains could reach the 40s to lower 50s.
Travelers along major routes including Interstate 25, U.S. Highway 50, and U.S. Highway 160 may encounter wet roads or brief visibility reductions in heavier showers.
Conditions are expected to improve heading into the weekend as drier weather moves into southern Colorado.
Temperatures will also begin a steady warming trend through early next week, with many locations seeing daytime highs climb into the 60s and even 70s by Monday and Tuesday.
Cities including Pueblo, Canon City, and La Junta could see warmer springlike conditions early next week after Friday’s cooler weather passes.
Residents traveling through mountain passes or higher elevations Friday should monitor road conditions and allow extra travel time, particularly during periods of snow.
The National Weather Service says dry conditions will likely dominate the weekend, bringing improving travel conditions across southern Colorado.
A brief return to warmer weather may also benefit commuters, outdoor workers, and students heading into the new week.
