Police Respond to Incident Near Parent-Teacher Conferences in New Lenox Near I-355, I-80 Interchange

New Lenox, IL – Parent-teacher conferences at Liberty Junior High coincided with a significant police response Monday evening. Officers were called to assist in an incident near I-355 and I-80.

Illinois State Police requested assistance from the New Lenox Police Department (NLPD) around 5:30 p.m. A large police presence was visible near the school and extended to Francis and Marley Roads. Police confirmed they assisted in taking a suspect into custody without incident.

The NLPD reassured residents there was no threat to the community. According to their statement, officers shared the information solely to address public concerns about safety.

Although authorities did not release specific details, the incident remains under Illinois State Police jurisdiction. The NLPD confirmed it would not provide further comments on the matter.

Parents and residents expressed relief after learning the situation posed no risk. Police emphasized their commitment to keeping the public informed during unusual activity.
