Peoria Teen Arrested After Woman, 20, Found Shot Dead; Involuntary Manslaughter Charges Filed

Peoria, IL – An 18-year-old man has been arrested following a fatal shooting in Peoria on Friday night. Police responded to a call on the 1400 block of South Griswold around 10:41 p.m. after receiving reports of a person shot inside a residence.

Officers found a 20-year-old woman with a gunshot wound and pronounced her dead at the scene. They made contact with Nathaniel Archuleta, 18, inside the residence. Authorities quickly launched an investigation.

According to the Peoria Police Department, Archuleta was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter, reckless discharge of a firearm, possession of a handgun under 21, and lacking a valid Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) card. He was transported to the Peoria County Jail, where he remains in custody.
