Peoria, IL – Peoria police report a tragic development in the August 11 shooting on North El Vista Avenue, as a second victim has died. Two women suffered gunshot wounds that night and were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. Despite medical efforts, 35-year-old Zaneta S. Winters was pronounced dead on August 12. Police confirmed early Tuesday morning that the second female victim also succumbed to her injuries.
Investigators initially lacked suspect information but soon identified Stevie A. Linwood, 43, as the primary suspect. Police arrested Linwood on August 12 in the 2000 block of West Forrest Hill after finding a discarded handgun nearby. Linwood faces charges of attempted murder, though additional charges are now under review.
