Pittsburgh, PA – Thunderstorms will fire up across western Pennsylvania by Monday afternoon, bringing 94°F heat and the risk of heavy rainfall through midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, a stalled cold front over the Upper Ohio Valley will trigger widespread showers and possible thunderstorms Monday into Tuesday. With dew points in the 60s, heat indices could climb into the upper 90s before storms erupt, especially along the I-376 corridor and into Allegheny, Beaver, and Washington counties.

Residents should prepare for flash flooding Monday night into early Tuesday. Localized rainfall totals may exceed one inch, particularly where thunderstorms become slow-moving. Patchy fog is also expected Monday night, reducing visibility for late-night drivers. If you’re heading out, avoid low-lying roads and keep emergency kits ready.

By Tuesday, conditions remain unsettled, with a 40–60% chance of showers and storms continuing. Daily highs hover in the mid-80s, but increased humidity will make it feel warmer. Ground saturation may lead to further runoff and ponding by midweek.

The rain threat diminishes slightly by Wednesday, but pop-up storms remain possible into the weekend. Be cautious around creeks and rivers through Thursday.
