Baltimore, Maryland – Drivers in Maryland should brace for scattered storms and soaking rains by late Monday morning as a potent summer system rolls through. Travel delays along I-95, especially near Baltimore, are likely after 11 a.m., when heavy downpours and possible thunderstorms move into the area.

According to the National Weather Service, a round of showers will begin around 11 a.m. Monday, followed by thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Gusts may reach 6 mph, with most of central Maryland, including Baltimore and Anne Arundel County, under a 60% chance of precipitation. Though rainfall totals will remain light in most areas, isolated storms may dump higher amounts.

Commuters and residents should plan around the wet weather window. Delay errands if possible, keep phones charged, and avoid flooded underpasses. Localized ponding is possible during peak rainfall in low-lying streets.

Looking ahead, Tuesday brings another round of showers and possible storms between 2 and 5 p.m., with a high near 92°F. Thunderstorms may linger through Tuesday night, particularly before 11 p.m., under continued humid conditions. Rain chances remain elevated at 70%.

Wednesday is a brief reprieve with sun and a high near 94°F before rain returns again Wednesday night. A wet pattern continues through Friday, when more storms are likely into the evening.
