Waterson, Pennsylvania – A brief but intense tornado with 75 mph winds hit eastern Clarion County Monday evening, toppling trees and damaging a garage near Waterson.
According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, the EF-0 tornado struck between 5:27 and 5:28 p.m. on June 9, carving a narrow 0.23-mile path with a maximum width of 25 yards. It’s the county’s first confirmed tornado since July 11, 2017 — and only the 15th on record.
Winds followed a convergent pattern, snapping hardwood trees and sending one onto a garage, collapsing the structure. No injuries or fatalities were reported. The NWS says the damage was concentrated in a tight corridor just north of Route 66.
Residents are urged to stay alert as severe weather remains possible across northwestern Pennsylvania this week. Keep weather radios charged and avoid wooded areas with damaged trees.
More updates are expected if conditions change. Tornado history and storm path details are available on the NWS Damage Viewer site.
