State College, PA – A Frost Advisory is in effect for much of western Pennsylvania early Saturday morning, as temperatures drop to 31°F in several counties, including Cambria, Clearfield, Elk, McKean, Somerset, and Warren. The advisory will last from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. EDT, potentially leading to frost formation that could damage sensitive outdoor vegetation.

According to the National Weather Service, freezing temperatures are expected to settle in overnight, putting outdoor plants at risk. Areas such as Johnstown, Ridgway, DuBois, Bradford, and Somerset could see temperatures dip low enough to cause harm to tender plants if they are left uncovered.

For anyone with gardens or outdoor plants, it’s crucial to take precautionary measures. Cover plants or bring them indoors if possible to protect them from the cold. Farmers, gardeners, and homeowners are urged to act quickly before the freeze sets in.

With temperatures expected to climb by Saturday afternoon, the risk of frost will dissipate, but until then, extra care should be taken to safeguard vulnerable vegetation.
