Harrisburg, PA – A tornado watch has been issued for central and eastern Pennsylvania, effective until 2 p.m. EDT Friday. Residents are urged to prepare for potential severe weather as isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms are forecasted to develop this morning into the early afternoon. The National Weather Service (NWS) has warned that several supercells could form, bringing with them the possibility of a few tornadoes and isolated damaging wind gusts of up to 60 mph.
According to the NWS Storm Prediction Center, a warm front advancing northward is the primary driver of these conditions. The tornado watch area spans approximately 75 miles east and west of a line from Monticello, New York, to Patuxent River, Maryland. Residents should stay alert for threatening weather conditions and be prepared to take action if warnings are issued.
