Pendleton, OR — Eastern Oregon is seeing a brisk start to Friday, as morning temperatures plunged below freezing in many parts of the Basin. As the day progresses, residents can expect temperatures to rise, with warmer conditions forecast for the weekend before colder weather and rain showers return by Monday.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Pendleton, a chilly morning began with temperatures in the low 30s, causing potential frost on roads, especially along I-84. Today’s high is expected to reach 57°F, with partly sunny skies and light winds. Drivers should be cautious of slick conditions early in the day, particularly on bridges and elevated roadways, as frost may develop overnight.

Saturday is predicted to be sunny, with a high near 71°F, making it an ideal day for outdoor activities. However, rain showers will likely return late Saturday night, with a 30% chance after 11 p.m. Rain could affect traffic flow and outdoor plans on Sunday, as gusts of up to 28 mph are possible. Winds may create hazards on highways like I-84 and State Route 11.

Rain showers are expected to continue through Monday, with an 80% chance of rain, creating potential hazards for the start of the workweek. Cooler temperatures will dominate early next week, with highs in the low 50s on Tuesday and Wednesday.
