Tulsa, OK – As dry conditions and gusty winds grip Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas, residents face increased fire threats. Fire weather risks are expected to peak Monday and Tuesday, with burn bans already in effect across both states. Winds of 20 to 40 mph and extremely low humidity will elevate the risk of grassland fires.

The NWS warns that any outdoor activity that produces sparks could lead to uncontrollable fires, urging people to postpone grilling or burning debris. Be especially cautious near roadways, including US-412 and the Arkansas River area, where fires can spread rapidly.

Thunderstorms are forecast for midweek, which may ease fire risks by bringing rain to the region. Keep local burn bans in mind to protect your property and community.
