Erie, PA – A Lake Effect Snow Warning has been issued for parts of Pennsylvania, with heavy snow expected through Friday night.

According to the National Weather Service, areas in Northern and Southern Erie counties could see snow totals of up to 12 inches by the end of the event. Snow is forecast to begin as showers Wednesday evening before transitioning into heavy lake effect bands overnight. Snowfall rates may reach 1 to 2 inches per hour in the most intense periods.

The heaviest snowfall is expected Wednesday night into Thursday, with lighter accumulations continuing into Friday. Winds gusting up to 40 mph could create hazardous travel conditions, particularly during the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes.
