KANKAKEE, IL – The Kankakee Valley Park District (KVPD) was quick to respond to a social media storm after an unauthorized post advertising an “adult-only” party at Splash Valley Aqua Park surfaced on social media.

According to Park officials in a statement Monday night, the organization did not approve or endorse the event, asserting their dedication to maintaining a family-friendly atmosphere. Authorities are investigating the origins of the post, which has since been taken down.

“We have been made aware of a post on a local Facebook page for an adult only party taking place at Splash Valley Aquatic Park,” KVPD officials said in a statement Monday. “This event is in no way approved by the Kankakee Valley Park District and will not be taking place. We are a family friendly facility and do not endorse such events. We apologize to those who may have seen the post and had concerns.”

No further details were provided as to the origin of the post. The incident serves as a cautionary tale about the impact of misinformation on social media platforms. The park district is committed to providing updates on the situation through official channels.
