Palos Park Scam Alert: Fake Apple Products Sold by Man in Amazon Vest With New Jersey Plates

Palos Park, IL – Police in Palos Park are warning residents after a man allegedly posing as an Amazon worker attempted to scam local employees by selling fake Apple products out of a car with New Jersey plates.

According to the Palos Park Police Department, the individual was driving a gray Hyundai Sonata and approached employees of a local business, offering Apple-branded products for cash. The man, dressed in an Amazon vest, allegedly claimed the products were genuine. After realizing the items were counterfeit, the employees confronted the suspect, who fled the scene.

Authorities recovered several fake Apple items, including counterfeit Apple Watches, iPhones, and AirPods, left behind by the suspect.

Investigators are currently reviewing video surveillance and using available camera footage to help identify the offender and the vehicle involved. Police are reminding residents to exercise caution and avoid purchasing electronics or other goods from people selling items out of their vehicle.
