Oswego, Ill. — The Oswego Fire Protection District announced on June 10 that it received the Call of the Year Award from the Rush Copley Medical Center.

The Oswego Fire Protection District received the award in recognition of the teamwork, dedication and professionalism displayed by the district in a recent emergency response. The crew was honored for their preparedness to serve, protect and save lives at a moment’s notice in how they adequately responded to the emergency call. The district noted that the award “reflects a powerful collaboration and a shared commitment to our community’s safety and care.” Oswego Fire did not disclose the event for which the award was received.

The Oswego Fire Protection District previously received the Call of the Year Award in 2016, as well as the Call of the Quarter Award, for timely recognition of a severe life-threatening cardiac event. Scene time for the cardiac event — including assessment, interpreting heart monitor and initiating care and transport — took under seven minutes.

This last May, Station 2 at the district also received the Copley Run of the Quarter Award for a patient who had a 99% arterial blockage. The total time from when crews arrived on the scene to when the artery was opened was 46 minutes, and the patient was cleared to leave the hospital in two days.
