Springfield, Missouri – A stretch of warm, dry weather continues in southern Missouri this week, giving residents a chance to enjoy early summer sunshine before rain chances build heading into the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, highs will stay in the upper 80s through Wednesday, with clear skies and overnight lows in the 60s. Thursday brings a slight increase in cloud cover and humidity, but most areas are expected to stay dry during the day.
By Friday, scattered showers and thunderstorms become more likely, especially during the afternoon and evening hours. The chance of rain rises from 30%-60% on Friday to as high as 70% by Saturday in parts of southwest Missouri. Areas including Branson, Joplin, and Rolla may see locally heavy downpours and brief lightning delays.
Travelers and outdoor planners should keep an eye on updated forecasts later in the week, especially for Friday evening events or Saturday morning errands. While no severe storms are expected at this time, wet roads and reduced visibility could affect driving conditions.
The window for dry outdoor plans remains open through Thursday night. After that, umbrellas may need to come back out. The next full weather briefing is expected by Thursday morning.
