Orland Park, IL – A local tradition will come alive this summer as the Village of Orland Park invites residents to step back in time for a day of 1860s-style baseball, held at Stellwagen Farm.
According to the Village of Orland Park Heritage Sites, the Vintage Baseball Game will take place Saturday, July 26, from 1 to 4 p.m. The event is free and open to all ages, offering families a unique historical experience along with games, animal exhibits, food, and refreshments.
The featured team, the Chicago Salmon, will don vintage uniforms and play by 19th-century rules, providing an educational and entertaining look at how America’s pastime began. Attendees can expect to see players refrain from using gloves, as was typical of the period, and participate in community-friendly activities that reflect the era.
The game will be held at Stellwagen Farm, located at 17701 108th Ave. in Orland Park, a site known for preserving local heritage and offering immersive history-based programs throughout the year. The event is supported by several local sponsors and businesses, emphasizing its strong community roots.
