Pendleton, OR – A heat advisory is in effect for several regions across Oregon, including The Dalles and Tri-Cities, as temperatures are set to soar this Labor Day weekend. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Pendleton issued the advisory, warning of widespread 90-degree weather, with some areas expected to approach 100 degrees.
According to the NWS, the heat advisory covers multiple locations, including the Oregon Cascades, Columbia Gorge, Yakima Valley, and Southern Blue Mountains. The advisory remains in effect from Saturday at 5 a.m. through Sunday at 9 p.m.
Officials urge residents to take precautions against the heat. Recommendations include staying hydrated, wearing light clothing, and avoiding outdoor activities during peak heat hours, typically from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The NWS also advises taking frequent breaks in air-conditioned or shaded areas to prevent heat-related illnesses.
