Medford, OR – Drivers across the Rogue Valley are urged to use caution this morning as dense fog reduces visibility to a quarter-mile or less. The National Weather Service has issued a Dense Fog Advisory, in effect until 10 a.m. Monday, for Medford and surrounding areas, including major routes like Interstate 5 and Highway 62.

According to the National Weather Service, the advisory affects drivers in the Rogue, Applegate, and Bear Creek valleys. Motorists are advised to reduce speeds, use low-beam headlights, and leave extra space between vehicles. The fog, combined with calm winds and temperatures in the upper 30s, poses hazardous driving conditions, especially in low-lying areas.

Rain is expected later Monday afternoon, with a 40% chance of showers between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Winds will pick up this evening as a Wind Advisory goes into effect from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday. Gusts of up to 50 mph are forecast, primarily impacting Medford, Central Point, and Ashland. The strong winds may down tree limbs and cause isolated power outages.

Looking ahead to Christmas week, weather conditions remain active. Tuesday will bring showers and highs near 45°F. Christmas Day may see patchy morning fog with a 30% chance of rain in the afternoon. By midweek, heavier rain is likely, with precipitation increasing Wednesday night and continuing into Thursday.

Residents are urged to monitor local forecasts and take precautions, especially during peak travel times. Visit weather.gov for updates and safety tips.
