Pendleton, OR – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for parts of Oregon and Washington, with snow and ice expected to create hazardous travel conditions through Thursday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, areas including the Blue Mountains, Simcoe Highlands, the Cascades, and the Columbia Basin will see mixed precipitation, snow accumulations up to 10 inches, and ice accumulation around one-tenth of an inch. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph in some areas.

The advisory covers cities such as La Pine, Sunriver, Pendleton, Yakima, Walla Walla, and Tri-Cities. In Oregon’s east slopes of the Cascades, snowfall could reach six inches, while higher elevations in Washington’s Cascades could see up to eight inches. Ice accumulation is expected to make roads, bridges, and overpasses especially slick.

Drivers should use caution, reduce speed, and check local road conditions via TripCheck.com (Oregon) or wsdot.wa.gov/travel (Washington). The advisory remains in effect through noon Wednesday in lower elevations and 4 a.m. Thursday in higher elevations.

Residents are advised to watch for icy sidewalks and driveways. Those traveling in the impacted areas should prepare for winter driving conditions and possible delays.
