Eugene, OR – Residents are urged to take precautions as an air stagnation advisory remains in effect through Thursday morning, limiting air movement and causing poor air quality in the region. The advisory impacts Eugene and the surrounding areas, particularly along the I-5 corridor, where dense fog has also been reported overnight. Those with respiratory issues should stay indoors as air pollutants may accumulate.
According to the National Weather Service, light winds and limited air movement are creating stagnant conditions, exacerbating health risks for vulnerable groups. The advisory applies to the Willamette Valley and areas across Central and Southern Oregon. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged, and use of wood stoves should be minimized to avoid worsening air conditions.
Sunday’s forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies with highs around 44°F and calm winds. Morning commuters should prepare for limited visibility due to lingering fog. Overnight, temperatures will drop to 33°F, with similar cloudy conditions continuing into Monday.
Looking ahead, Monday will bring partly sunny skies and highs near 46°F, offering some relief from the gloom. Nights will remain chilly, with lows around 34°F. By Tuesday, sunshine is expected to return, pushing temperatures up to a comfortable 47°F, giving residents a much-needed break from cloudy weather.
Drivers along the I-5 corridor should exercise caution during morning hours when fog is heaviest. Officials recommend planning ahead and allowing extra time for travel. Stay informed with regular updates from local authorities as conditions evolve.
