Vernon, NY – A Syracuse man was arrested after Oneida County deputies investigated a report of a stolen vehicle in the Village of Vernon on Sunday evening, authorities said.

According to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at approximately 5:04 p.m. Sunday, July 13, 2026, to the Foodland store at 5343 Seneca St. following a complaint involving a stolen vehicle that had been seen in the area.

Deputies located the vehicle and allegedly found 30-year-old Mitchell Roehm in possession of it. Authorities arrested Roehm and transported him to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Building, where he was booked and processed.

According to the sheriff’s office, Roehm was charged with one count of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a Class E felony under New York State Penal Law.

Following processing, Roehm was escorted to CAP Court, where he was released. Officials said he is scheduled to appear in Vernon Town Court at a later date.

The sheriff’s office did not release additional information about the stolen vehicle or the circumstances surrounding the investigation.

As with all criminal cases, the charge is an allegation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
