Verona, NY – A 23-year-old man was arrested Saturday following a reported domestic incident in the Town of Verona, according to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.

According to Sheriff Robert Maciol, deputies responded to a residence after a 911 call reporting a physical domestic situation on May 2, 2026, Saturday. During the investigation, authorities determined that the man, identified as Matthew J. Lenhart Jr., was allegedly present at the home in violation of an active order of protection.

Officials said that while the initial domestic complaint could not be substantiated due to a lack of cooperation, deputies proceeded with an arrest based on the alleged protection order violation under New York State’s mandatory arrest laws.

Lenhart was charged with Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree, a class A misdemeanor, and Aggravated Family Offense, a class E felony. According to the sheriff’s office, those charges stem from his alleged presence at the residence despite legal restrictions.

Following his arrest, Lenhart was transported to the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building for processing. He was later held at the Oneida County Correctional Facility pending arraignment.

Authorities have not released additional details about the individuals involved or the circumstances leading up to the 911 call.

The case remains under investigation, and no further information has been made available at this time.
