Norman, Oklahoma – Damaging storms are expected to intensify across Oklahoma and northern Texas tonight, bringing the threat of 2-inch hail, wind gusts over 75 mph, and isolated tornadoes through at least 3 a.m. Saturday.

According to the NOAA Storm Prediction Center, severe thunderstorms will expand eastward from the southern High Plains late Friday evening, with the greatest risk stretching from Amarillo to Oklahoma City. Areas under a moderate risk include Lubbock, Lawton, and Enid. Storms are forecast to reach central Oklahoma, including the OKC metro, between 1 and 3 a.m. CDT.

Cities such as Norman, Wichita Falls, and Clovis may see rapid storm development overnight, with dangerous wind and hail conditions possible. The strongest storms could knock out power or damage roofs and vehicles.

Visibility will be limited during the overnight hours, making it critical for residents to have multiple alert systems active. Avoid non-essential travel, charge phones and devices, and secure outdoor items.

Severe weather warnings may continue into early Saturday. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio and local media for updates.
