Tulsa, Oklahoma – Oklahoma is bracing for a volatile mix of severe thunderstorms, dangerous heat, and flood risks across Tulsa and surrounding counties through midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, storms will continue firing south of I-40 Tuesday evening with strong winds and hail. Southeast Oklahoma, including areas around Tulsa, will also see elevated thunderstorm chances through Wednesday night. A Flood Warning remains in effect along the Caney River near Collinsville, with roads in north Tulsa County likely becoming impassable by early Wednesday morning.

Local authorities warn that heat index values may soar above 100°F starting Wednesday afternoon and persist into the July 4th weekend. Outdoor plans, especially around Independence Day, should account for lightning, downpours, and oppressive humidity. Residents are urged to avoid driving through flooded roads and to monitor alerts closely as spotter activation may be needed.

💧 Tuesday afternoon storms may produce up to quarter-sized hail and localized flash flooding.
