Tulsa, OK – Oklahoma continues to battle extreme heat, with dangerous conditions persisting throughout much of the state. The National Weather Service in Tulsa has issued an excessive heat warning for parts of northeast Oklahoma, including Tulsa, Bartlesville, and Miami, effective from noon to 9 p.m. today. During this period, heat index values are expected to soar above 110 degrees, with some areas potentially reaching as high as 112 degrees.

According to the National Weather Service, the rest of eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas are under a heat advisory for the same time frame, with heat index values exceeding 105 degrees. These conditions significantly increase the risk of heat-related illnesses, particularly for those engaging in outdoor activities.

The current forecast shows no immediate relief from the oppressive heat. Tulsa is expected to hit a high of 100 degrees today, with temperatures remaining in the triple digits through Friday. Thursday’s high is predicted to reach 102 degrees, while Friday will see a high of 100 degrees. Slightly cooler temperatures are anticipated over the weekend, with highs of 96 degrees on Saturday and 97 degrees on Sunday.

Residents are urged to take appropriate precautions, including staying hydrated, taking frequent breaks in air-conditioned environments, and avoiding strenuous outdoor activities during peak heat hours. The National Weather Service also advises checking on vulnerable populations, such as the elderly and young children, who are more susceptible to heat-related illnesses.
