West-Central Ohio – The National Weather Service (NWS) Storm Prediction Center in Norman, OK, has highlighted a slight risk of isolated severe storms for west-central Ohio today. The chance of a severe weather watch is minimal, but residents should stay alert for possible severe wind gusts and hail.

According to the NWS, regional radar shows multiple convective clusters moving southeast along a cold front oriented east-west. Surface heating in advance of these clusters has caused destabilization in the warm sector, with MLCAPE values nearing 1500 J/kg. This increasing instability is expected to support further storm development along the front.

Effective bulk shear remains stronger to the north behind the front, leading to a generally weak shear environment that suggests storms will likely stay disorganized. However, low-level lapse rates around 8.5 C/km may still promote a few intense cells capable of producing severe weather. Residents should keep an eye on weather updates and be ready to respond to any severe weather alerts.
