Ohio – Dark clouds are building quickly, and storms will begin to fire this afternoon, bringing heavy rain and gusty winds that could disrupt travel across Columbus within hours.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, showers and thunderstorms will develop through the afternoon with a 90% chance of rain and wind gusts reaching up to 25 mph. A few storms may become strong, with damaging winds as the primary threat.
Across central Ohio, conditions will shift rapidly after midday. Rain will become steady at times, with embedded thunderstorms reducing visibility on I-70, I-71, and Route 315. Plan extra time for travel and avoid driving during heavier downpours if possible.
