Steady rain taps against rooftops across Wilmington this morning, and fog hangs low over fields and back roads. Temperatures sit near 36 degrees, and visibility has dropped in spots around Clinton County. If you’re driving along I-71 or U.S. 68, expect ponding on pavement and slower travel through midmorning.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, a prolonged period of moderate rainfall will continue through today and into tonight. Rain chances hold near 100 percent, and totals between a half inch and three-quarters of an inch are possible by evening. Minor areal flooding could develop in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

Showers remain steady through tonight with temperatures climbing to around 54 degrees this afternoon. Rain continues into Wednesday with highs near 63. Embedded thunderstorms are possible at times, which could enhance rainfall rates and increase runoff.

By Thursday, highs approach 69 degrees with additional showers. Friday surges even warmer, reaching 77 degrees with a chance of rain before skies begin to trend drier. That warming trend reflects a broader March pattern shift across the Ohio Valley.

Creeks and small streams should be monitored through midweek. Avoid driving through water-covered roads. Even shallow water can stall a vehicle quickly.

Clocks spring ahead at 2 a.m. Sunday, March 8. Longer daylight and spring warmth are on the horizon. The 6–10 day outlook favors above-normal temperatures into early next week.

Five Day Outlook for Wilmington, Ohio:
Wednesday: Showers, high 63.
Thursday: Showers, high 69.
Friday: Chance of rain, high 77.
Saturday: Rain likely, high 74.
Sunday: Chance of rain, high 68.
