Ocean City, NJ – Gillian’s Wonderland Pier, a beloved fixture on the Ocean City Boardwalk, will close its doors after 94 years of operation. Jay Gillian, the owner, announced the decision, citing the challenges of maintaining the family business in today’s economy. The closure marks the end of a significant era for Ocean City, where Gillian’s has been a cherished destination for generations.
Gillian started working at the pier at age 13 and has devoted his life to the business, learning every aspect of it alongside his family. He shared his deep appreciation for the memories made and the connections formed with guests and staff over the years.
According to Gillian, both Wonderland Pier and 6th Street Pizza will remain open until the end of the lease in a few months, allowing patrons to enjoy the attractions one last time. Despite the closure, Gillian expressed gratitude for the community’s support and the lasting legacy the pier leaves behind.
