Oak Brook, IL – Oak Brook Police apprehended a burglary suspect Wednesday after a pursuit ending near Route 83 and 22nd Street.
Police were alerted around 2:35 p.m. when license plate readers identified a vehicle tied to burglary and retail theft. Officers located the car entering Oakbrook Center Mall and attempted a traffic stop. The driver fled westbound on 22nd Street, colliding with another vehicle near Route 83.
According to police, the driver refused commands to exit the vehicle. Officers disabled the rear window using a bean bag round for visibility, safely apprehending the driver without further incident.
The suspect, the vehicle’s sole occupant, was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries from the crash. No officers or bystanders were hurt.
The investigation into the burglary and retail theft is ongoing.
