Evansville, IN – An EF-1 tornado struck Vanderburgh and Warrick counties in southwest Indiana on Thursday evening, carving a damage path of 11.12 miles and reaching estimated peak winds of 110 mph.
According to the US National Weather Service Paducah, Kentucky, the tornado touched down at 6:30 p.m. CDT and traveled until 6:42 p.m. CDT. The storm damage survey team confirmed that the tornado began just east of Evansville Regional Airport, moving east-southeast before crossing Interstate 69 into Warrick County.
The tornado’s path extended from Melody Hill to Chandler and Newburgh, with a maximum width of 300 yards. Majority of the damage occurred in the Victoria Hills area, where downed trees and large tree limbs were reported. Several trees fell into homes, causing structural damage. Additionally, a few homes along Telephone Road to Fuquay Road suffered roof and gutter damage.
Despite the extensive damage, there were no reported injuries or fatalities. The storm’s impact included substantial tree damage and debris scattered across affected areas. Emergency services responded promptly to clear the debris and ensure residents’ safety.
