Baltimore, MD – Severe thunderstorms are expected to hit the Baltimore area this Saturday afternoon, bringing with them the potential for damaging winds, large hail, and power outages. Residents across western Maryland, eastern West Virginia, and northwestern Virginia are advised to stay weather-aware throughout the day.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Baltimore/Washington, the best chance for severe storms will occur if the morning clouds break, allowing temperatures to rise into the low 90s. These conditions could create a volatile atmosphere conducive to severe weather. The NWS warns that primary threats include localized damaging wind gusts and large hail.

Residents should secure outdoor items, monitor local weather alerts, and be prepared for possible power outages. Those in areas prone to flooding should have an emergency plan in place and avoid traveling during the storm.

As the weather can change rapidly, it’s crucial to stay updated through local news sources and the National Weather Service for the latest information and safety instructions.
