Orland Park, IL – Move over, slow traffic—there’s a new slowpoke in town! Orland Park police were called today when a rogue tortoise was found taking a leisurely stroll near the 15300 block of Lisa Court. Unlike your typical suburban speedsters, this unexpected visitor wasn’t in much of a rush.
While Orland Park drivers are used to bumper-to-bumper traffic, they probably didn’t expect a tortoise to add to the congestion. The tortoise, which police believe is someone’s pet, is clearly not from the area. It’s hard to miss a creature that’s basically the slowest “runaway” you’ll ever see.
According to the Orland Park Police Department, the tortoise was found earlier today, casually exploring the neighborhood. Officers suspect it made a daring (but incredibly slow) escape from a nearby yard. Despite the animal’s lack of urgency, the department is determined to reunite it with its owner.
If you’re the proud owner of this shell-shocked traveler, or know who is, please call 708-349-4111. While this tortoise may not be planning any more high-speed adventures, police are ready to help guide it back to where it belongs—hopefully before it makes another daring getaway.
