Lakewood, CA – A Norwalk man with an extensive criminal history was arrested by Lakewood deputies on Saturday. Deputies responded to a report of a stolen vehicle near Lakewood Blvd and Rose Street. After locating the car, officers arrested the suspect, a male resident of Norwalk.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, deputies quickly recognized the man due to a prior arrest on August 16 for grand theft auto and drug possession. Despite his previous arrests, the suspect had been released under zero bail policies.

The suspect’s criminal record includes over 30 arrests, involving serious charges such as assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, and drug possession. His arrests have mostly resulted in probation. He has served time in county jail but has never been sentenced to state prison.

Lakewood jail staff sought a Magistrate Review, an additional step aimed at ensuring the suspect remained in custody until his court date. Despite current bail policies, deputies vowed to continue prioritizing community safety.
