Lowell, IN – Indiana State Police conducted a 24-hour blitz last Friday, focusing on traffic enforcement along I-65 and I-94. The operation involved troopers stationed at the Lowell Post and the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division. Troopers made 327 traffic stops, issuing 237 citations and 231 warnings.
According to the ISP, the blitz resulted in 36 criminal charges, with 12 defendants incarcerated. There were 13 reported crashes, 6 drug arrests, and 9 arrests for operating while intoxicated. Troopers also stopped 78 semi-trucks, issuing 58 citations, 68 warnings, and taking 14 trucks out of service.
Lt. Weems commended the troopers’ efforts, stating their dedication helps keep communities safer, not just during blitzes but throughout the year. Several law enforcement agencies also participated in the operation, though their statistics were not immediately available.
